| Abstract: Nuclear power reactors in operation around the world are generally considered second- or third-generation systems, with most of the first-generation systems having been retired some time ago. Generation IV nuclear power reactors are now on the drawing board and in a testing phase and are not expected to be available for commercial use before 2020 - 2030. The purpose of this work is to analyse these nuclear reactors, highlighting their advantages and disadvantages, in order to have an image of the future developments of nuclear power technology, as a part of the nations efforts to solve the problem of growing demand for energy. |
