Abstract: The nonlinear dynamics provide us powerful tools for characterizing the evolution of a nonlinear
system such as time histories, histograms, Fourier spectra, state space plots, Poincaré maps,
autocorrelation functions, Lyapunov exponents, dimension calculations, etc. Using these methods on
can make an efficacious analysis of some complex state of a plasma system. In this contribution I
applied these modern methods to describe the nonlinear interaction between two low-frequency
instabilities which appear in the magnetized plasma of a Q machine, namely the potential relaxation
instability and the electrostatic ion-cyclotron instability. For this purpose I reconstructed the phase
space of the system dynamics. |
