Abstract: Treatments by a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) in helium at atmospheric pressure were used to modify surface energetic properties and surface morphology of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polyethylene terephthalate with titanium dioxide (PET+TiO2) films. Contact angle of water present decreased values on DBD treated surfaces in comparison with the values measured in case of untreated surfaces, the energetic properties of treated surfaces being function of storage time in air. Chemical structure of surfaces, investigated by Attenuated Total Reflectance - Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR) is unmodified by plasma treatments. Still, variations of IR absorbency in case of some chemical groups important in oxidation reactions at surface are studied. |
