| Abstract: The goal of this article is to present a selection of the main ideas discussed at the Second International Girep Seminar on Quality Development in Teacher Education and Training, held in Udine (Italy) in September 2003, with the scientific responsibility of the Groupe International de Recherche sur l’Enseignement de la Physique (GIREP), European Physical Society (EPS)- Division of Education, European Physics Education Network (EUPEN), American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT). About 250 participants (scientists from industry, researchers in the didactics of physics, university professors, school teachers) coming from 41 countries all over the world shared ideas concerned with ’’how to teach student teachers to teach physics in school”. The Seminar has been organized in 3 Round Tables, 10 Panel Sessions and 11 Workshops. The author participated at the Workshop on Initial Teacher Training (ITT), that brought together those who are involved with the training of physics teachers |
