Abstract: The ultrasound velocity has been measured in the mixtures of the primary alcohols with water in order to estimate their adiabatic compressibility. The coefficient of compressibility is an indicator of the intermolecular interactions in the binary solutions. An abnormality of the dependence of this parameter as function of temperature has been evidenced at volumetric concentrations of about 20% alcohol in water, explained by the changes produced in the solvation shells of water molecules. |
