Abstract: The aim of the present study was to calculate the water-to-air stopping power ratios (SPRs) for degraded electron beams obtained with NOVAC7 IORT linear accelerator. The SPRs variation with electron nominal energies (3, 5, 7 and 9 MeV) and different field sizes (IORT applicator diameters 4, 6, 8 and 10 cm) has been carefully investigated. To simulate the realistic IORT electron beams, BEAMnrc Monte Carlo code has been used, the SPRs values being than calculated with SPRRZnrc code. Significant SPRs variations with nominal energies have been found, but practically no influence of the field size has been observed. |
