Abstract: Spectral investigation was carried out on nucleic acid (DNA and RNA) from blood cells exposed to low ionizing radiation. The modification of average concentration of nucleic acids in samples in comparison to the control was assigned to concurrent phenomena: DNA and RNA damage under the radiation action, on a hand, and nucleic acid restoration as a consequence of cell self-adjustment to the external stress, on the other hand. As well, the stimulation of nucleic acid biosynthesis, as response to the radiation stress, is supposed to play an important role in the enhancing the nucleic acid level. Logarithmic dependence of the nucleic acid concentration on the exposure time was noticed. |
