Abstract: Plasma polymerization is gaining importance in the
last several years as a tool to modify material surfaces.
Plasma contains active species capable to initiate
physical and chemical reactions on solid surfaces of the
polymers. As a result it appears the modification of the
surface properties, including the surface morphology
and its energetic characteristics. These processes at
interface materialplasma
are known as plasma
treatments. When plasma interacts with organic vapours
chemical reactions are induced and the organic
compounds, in particular the polymers, are produced, all
the surfaces from the plasma zone being covered with
the polymers. The process in which the small organic
molecules under the plasma conditions given
macromolecular compounds (polymers) is called
plasma polymerization. |
