Abstract: The pollution of the atmosphere can be defined as the impurification process of the atmospheric air with substances in gas, liquid or solid state, whose concentration and exposure duration are capable of producing harmful effects on the environment, on man (his health and quality of life) and on the goods (technological products, assets). The atmospheric pollution refers to a complex of (physical, chemical, biological) phenomena having both natural and anthropic (man-made) causes. Air pollution is a major problem mankind has faced with for the last two hundreds of years. Pollution is also able to produce global warming and that’s why it has been constantly present in the public eye in the last few years, becoming a topic debate among statesman and government officials, and its effects are talked about in the media. One of the industries that have a quite high rate of gas emission, producing greenhouse effect, is the cement industry. Globally, the greenhouse effect gas emissions, resulting from the cement making process, have a contribution of 5%. This papers analyses the 1998–2008 cement powder pollution in the Bicaz area, compared to similar regions from our country. |
