Abstract: Due to industrial and communication development there is a permanent radio frequency component into the environment radiation
background. Scientific data reports regarding the physiological perturbations induced by microwaves and radio frequency waves are often
focused on this subject. We aimed to evidence the non-thermal effects of RF acute or chronic exposure with respect to nucleic acids
molecular damage in the animal cells. A TEM cell that delivers 0.6mW/cm2 at a frequency of 418 MHz was used. Animal tissue samples
(muscle, live, lung, bone, brain, kidney) have been exposed in vitro for 1-2-4-8-16 hours, unique exposure, as well as for 1-2-4 hours per
irradiation session with 2 hours breaks between them (chronic exposure). Repeated measurements have been carried out in order to ensure
the statistical significance of experimental results. The influence of the radiofrequency wave exposure was analyzed and discussed
considering the putative non-thermal effects at the level of cell nucleus. |
