| Abstract: This paper presents a study on the emission spectra of selected gases, in the visible range of the electromagnetic
spectrum, using optical emission spectrometry (OES) method. The studied gases are hydrogen, neon, helium, argon,
krypton and mercury. The emission lines, detected with a spectrometer, are compared to the lines listed in an atomic
spectra database. OES has specific advantages, as offering significant information on composition, transition energy,
bond strength etc., within short acquisition time. |
