| Abstract: The phase transition FeIIIII from bcc to fcc phase has been studied for a long time with various methods such as X-Ray diffraction, resistivity variation etc. We propose to study this transition using a simple method based on the volume variation monitoring. One way of applying this method is to measure the length variation of an iron wire by heating and cooling it around the transition temperature (912oC at normal pressure), evidencing the anomaly in the wire length variation. We can evaluate the order of magnitude for the volume variation using an experimental setup projected for didactic purposes. |
