Abstract: Temperature is one of the physical agents who may induce structural and functional changes of proteins. Depending on the heating severity we have distinguished three thermal transition stages: an initial structural perturbation, the thermal denaturation and the thermal aggregation stage [1].
Protein aggregation process is a source of more than 20 serious human diseases, like Alzheimer’, Parkinson’s, Creutzfeldt-Jakob or Huntington’s, called “conformational diseases”, that have as result the cell degeneration. Although, the protein thermal aggregation is an important process for various scientific fields (e.g. medicine, protein science, biophysics, biochemistry and engineering), the molecular basis of this process is not yet well known. For example little is known about the proteins reassembly in toxic oligomeric and fibrillar structure or the organization of aggregates in solution. Recent studies suggest the fractal geometry as a useful method to describe the organisation of aggregates in solution. Fractal geometry is a useful mathematical tool to study chaotic dynamic systems [2]. |
