Abstract: BiFeO3 is one of the few singlephase
multiferroics, showing antiferromagnetic and ferroelectric ordering. A
summary of its controversial properties is presented. For improving its dielectric properties, it is adopted the solution of pdoping
or forming solid solutions with good dielectrics. The solid solutions of BiFeO3BaTiO3
were prepared via solid
state. For the composition 0.7BiFeO30.3BaTiO3,
the permittivity is er»150 at room temperature and shows a broad ferropara
phase transition at 175°C where er»1600. Higher losses appear above 200°C and other different conduction
mechanisms start to be active at temperatures over 400°C, when the ceramic becomes conductive. At room temperature
the ceramic is a multiferroic, since it is ferroelectric and magneticallyordered. |
