Abstract: Teaching molecular biophysics at the postgraduate level is difficult in Romanian universities from reasons related to the lack of experimental equipment. An alternative could be computational biophysics with its broad categories: simulation, visualization and modeling. We illustrate here a few ways to use computational tools for teaching molecular biophysics applied in our department: sequence alignment, physicochemical parameters determination, visualization and modeling tools. All the applications are made for reverse transcriptase, a biological macromolecule involved in human immunodeficiency virus reproduction and its inhibition can be the way to cure AIDS. The teaching problems and results are discussed. |
