Abstract: As the synthetic antiferromagnetic (SAF) structures are becoming more attractive as a solution for the magnetic random access memory technology, perpendicular magnetic recording and magnetic sensors, there is a continuous theoretical effort to better understand the energy surface and the switching properties of such a system. In this paper it is investigate the possibility to develop a method to study the stability for a SAF composed from two identically coupled magnetic free layers, using the single domain model for each layer. For
fixed initial conditions, the system has multiple equilibrium states and consequently it is
rather difficult to estimate the activation energy for the possible switches. Using the developed method can be determined the critical points: the minimum energetic points as well as the saddle points based on the solution of polynomial equation associated to the SAF structure. These are necessary conditions to estimate the activation energy. The case when the magnetic field is applied along the easy axes is completely analytically solved. |
